Poha Recipe
“Poha” is the very popular breakfast recipe in Maharashtrian Family made up of flattened rice. Many people make poha with potato and other veggies like carrot or green peas. But I like kanda poha (Onion Poha)
Let’s see How to make poha
Ingredients:
Poha 1 cup(Flattened Rice)
Groundnut 4Tbsp
Onion 1/2 cup chopped
Green chilli 2-3 chopped
Coriander leaves chopped
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Grated fresh coconut
Salt as per taste
Preparation:
First rinse poha under running water until they soften. But do not rinse too much as they’ll break or become mushy. For this purpose use stainer while rinsing.
Sprinkle turmeric powder on poha and keep it aside poha.
Heat a pan, add oil once oil heats add mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds pop ups add cumin seeds.
Then add Ground nuts. And fry then nicely. (I like Fried and Crunchy Groundnuts in Poha).
Then add chopped onion, saute until it becomes soft then add green chilli.
Let mix everything properly then add poha, salt as per taste and pinch of sugar to get moisture. And mix it properly and cover it with lid to cook.
After 3-4 minutes poha will become very soft. Last add coriander leaves and switch off the gas flame and mix it everything.
While serving decorate with grated coconut and piece of lemon. And serve with hot tea. And Enjoy!!!!!
